A very cool little amp here. It's an Epiphone Valve Jr Head (five watts), substantially modded to give better performance with bass. Various resistors & caps have been replaced, and the main improvement comes from a (comparably) massive Weber SE15 output transformer. The original preamp tube was also changed out to a JJ Tesla.

Epiphone Valve Junior to Bass! A thread of tiny modding and major sound
I bought it thinking it would be a great low-volume practice/recording head, and it definitely is that. I've mainly used it with a 1x10 4 ohm cab and found it to be loud enough for non-drumkit coffeehouse size gigs (w/electric guitar & vocals) without additional amplification or PA support. I've also put the speaker out through a Weber Mini-Mass (great, great attenuator box, btw) and been able to use it as a recording source direct and a distortion pedal into a power amp. If you double on guitar it's still sounds terrific for that but now has more of a Bassman/Princeton sound to my ears. In addition to the mods that were done before I took posession there is now also a full-size CTS 1 meg ohm volume pot installed (same value as the original mini generic one).
Anyway, I recently got access to a practice/recording space that is pretty well stocked with amps & heads of all types, plus I can record at higher volumes with my larger rigs...so my Shuttle & 1x10 are at home now and I don't have much need for it. I'd like to break even on this,
$200 + shipping. Open to trades +/- cash, and/or the Aria in the basses section, looking for (among other things) an Epifani UL-110 cab and a Demeter Compulator....
Thanks!
