Fender produced the Studio Bass Amp from around 1977 - 1981 or so. It was a 200watt RMS combo, with 1-15" EV speaker, 5 band rotary EQ. Some folks think this is the best bass amp Fender ever made, next to the Showman (which a lot of bassists used back in the day). One problem was its weight, the combo was over 100 pounds, and prone to tipping over, being top-heavy.
The gentleman I bought this from is a wonderful electronics & tube amp specialist, he bought this combo, separated it into a head & cab. He replaced all the original coupling caps and added an adjustable bias voltage (currently biased at 60%). He's been working on these for years, his workmanship is top notch and the bias mod did not require any holes to be drilled in the chassis. You still retain the original fender matching control...
These amps are incredible, I gigged with the combo back in '80 - '82, this amp has the balls of an SVT or Mesa D180. When I saw this, I just had to have it! It's top notch, I just realized that at 57 years old, I'm not going to be carting this around anywhere.
Since he divided this combo in halves, you can use the amp with any speaker cabinet that is 8 ohms.
Cosmetics: Just a few bumps here and there to the tolex. She looks almost new for an over 30 year old amp.
Do also note that the preamp and PI section do not contain any new production tubes with the exception of V1 which is a new production Tung-Sol. There are a mix of Sylvania, Philips, RCA, etc in the preamp. The power section does contain new production tubes.
