FS/FT: Acme Low B2 cab (4 ohm), needs speakers

Before description, I'd like to make this CRYSTAL clear...

**** THIS CAB NEEDS SPEAKERS TO FUNCTION. ****
It is not a cab that is ready to use and will require work to function. Speakers can be purchased from Acme and they will require the old ones to be returned. This DOES INCLUDE speakers, but they are blown.


Okay, that said, here's the description:

Acme Low B2 Series II cab, 4 ohm, 3-way cab, 2x10.
I bought it used here ($400) and promptly blew the speakers. It's not the cab for me and I don't want to continue to invest in it because I will not use it.

Other than blown speakers, it is in good shape. A few marks from use, but no dents or gouges in the cab. With a little elbow grease, could pass for new. Includes everything (screws, grille, speakers, etc).

Speakers can be purchased from Acme at $70 each with the old speakers returned. I don't know what the procedure is, but the email I got is as follows (RE: Speaker Replacement)

Hi Adam,

Replacement woofers are $70 each, plus return of the bad one(s).

We can send them "up front", so you can send the old one back in the same
box, and have both there to get the wiring right. There is a $25 core charge
for this, refundable when the old woofer gets back.

Honestly, I don't know if that means they charge $95 each, then refund you $25 or if they are $70 then $25 off (doubt it! $90 for 2 speakers?!?!), but you can call them, the number is above.
ALSO, you could change this to 8 ohms, since it needs new speakers anyway.

Do the mid and tweeter work? The only ones that need replaced are the sub woofers?

As far as I can tell, yes, it's just the woofers. They creased and caused a terrible sound. I couldn't hear anything wrong with the tweeter and mid and was told that these would be near impossible to blow out. There is a protection circuit on the horn, I believe, and that is intact and the mid was turned down pretty low when I used the cab.

I'm on the opposite side of PA. Would you have any interest in selling the cab without the 2 blown speakers?

I could, but the price would be the same. Shipping may be less, but I know that 2 blown speakers are worth zilch.

I replaced the drivers in my B2 somewhat recently. Andy was a pleasure to work with and the process was an easy one.

Was it $140 or so after the "core charge"?

I can't recall the exact price but it was something like that.

The way it worked was that he sent me the new ones and I had something like a week or two to send the old ones back or be charged extra.
