Some higher end pre-amps do...I think the DB659 has the Jensen tranformer, im guessing its more or less for the tubes.

No, a Jensen tranformer is not for the tubes, it's to decouple the system from the DI output. It makes the DI very quiet.
Tubes, in this case only need the power transformer (400V plates). There are no output transformer as it is a preamp.

Anyways, geeky details. And... bump for a great pre.

the SC is the regular single channel one. It is not the one with the distortion channel.
