FS/FT Feeler: QSC PLX 3002 light power amp

I impulse bought this and don't like it quite as well as my DCM1540L, so I'm throwing it up there for sale/trades.

This is in pretty decent shape for where it came from - it's well used and pretty old, but both channels and all the switches are in good shape. It was pretty dusty when I got it but I cleaned it up as best I can. You can see in the pic below that it could still use some more cleaning, but the fan is functioning fine and is quite quiet so I don't think it's a huge issue.

I am far more interested in trades and would be happy to entertain offers of anything - basses, amps, a smaller pre/power rig, bass cabs, pedalboards full of pedals, whatever. I have some other things lying around I could toss in on deals to make them right, or possibly some cash.

$450.00 obo shipped to the continental US.

Heads up, I tested this out a little further and the pots are quite scratchy. I'm going to do up some contact cleaner and all that - if I can't get it resolved I'll lower the price. Not seeing anything here that a little cheap TLC won't fix, and it sounds really, really good, just not any better than my Carvin which I bought new (so will take a bigger beating on).

Anywho, I just wanted to reiterate that this amp is old and was a bar amp for a couple years, so is well used. No spring chicken. Despite QSC's reputation for reliability I would expect to do some maintenance on this guy eventually.

Thanks for looking!

Putting this on hold for a bit - cleaned it all out and went over it and the second channel is a little fuzzy and quiet, so I'm going to have it serviced and let ya'll know. I have no intention of selling anything that isn't in complete working condition (or noted to be otherwise). Thanks for the interest.

Ok, I am officially paranoid and retarded. Apparently if you drive a power amp with waaaay too little voltage (e.g. the di box) it can sound pretty lame. I hooked my mixer up to it and it sounds perfect on both channels and bridged. Also, the scratchy pots are completely gone, neither pot scratches at all. Hurray for contact cleaner. It is super, super loud through my Dr. Bass 3080 bridged, made my ears hurt after not much time at all :P

Anyway, my apologies. As I have said before, this amp is used and so I was a little paranoid about it. I'm going to leave it up there for its very cheap asking price and say again: This is an old amp in good working order that may eventually require maintenance.

Back on the market at the same price, OBO of course, trades considered, et cetera.

Smokin' amp. I used to drive my dual 18"s with one of those! Sold the duals, but still have the QSC. It now drives a much more managable pair of custom single 18" JBL's. I've had mine for probably close to 8 years, and it's never had a single issue. I've driven it really hard in some demanding environments too!

Thanks for the experience man!

This is still on the market. Like I said I got all the dust cleared out and it's rocking. To relate a little more info, I got a quote from an authorized QSC dealer cos I was curious, and replacing TWO bad channels in a QSC PLX series is quoted out at roughly 250.00. Not nearly as expensive as I had thought, so repairing these things really is worth it, even if something fails.

PMs responded to (emailed you,. Bb)

2000w @ 8 ohms bridged, or plenty enough to biamp a fEarful with 550w @ 8 ohms per side or 900w @ 4 ohms per side for the 151566.

This is still not spoken for so snag it while it's hot folks !

Paranoia never fails me! I re-tested this bad boy and it seems like the issue I was noticing before is in fact an issue - channel 2 is getting less input than channel 1 is and I can't tell why, so I am pulling this and going to get it checked out.

My apologies to everyone interested, just thankful I didn't sell anyone anything broken, definitely not my intention.
