FS/FT Peavey Classic 400 all tube head

Sign in to disble this ad
Im putting my Peavey classic 400 up for sale. i "sold" it a while back but when the buyer got it it wasnt working properly. i ended up refunding his money and shipping it back to me. it turned out to be an easy fix (just a preamp tube) but because of this i am a little leary of shipping it again. so for now im going to say local pickup only. i will drive to meet half way if you are reasonably close.

this amp is a monster. 400 watts (conservatively) of tube goodness. it eats up my swr big bertha 2x15. it is in pretty good shape cosmetically and plays great. it has 2 channels (clean and dirty) or you can combine the 2. there is one knob missing which can be bought for a couple bucks.
pm me for pics or more info.
$450

For God's sake somebody buy this thing! It is heavy but this is a steal for an all tube monster! Wish I lived closer!

Oh, Don't worry...

I'm on it ; ) Waiting to talk to the seller about the details for a rendezvous in Indiana...
I'm sure he has other inquires as well.
Not to derail a for sale thread, but Does anyone have experience getting loud and CLEAN tube tone out of one of these? Ala Alembic, Kern, or Read tube preamp sounds? Most info I've seen is from people going for some dirt and or grind out of these but I'm hoping that with the right tubes I can get something a little closer to Hi-fi...I read through the entire 64+ page mega thread but didn't see anything definitive on this topic.
Feel free to PM me instead of posting here so we don't derail...
Thanks,
Greg

gnergaard - they have enough power to do clean very well. I used the dirty channel, and just cranked the post, using just enough pre to make it loud. Loud it is.
