FS: Hughes & Kettner "BATT" tube bass preamp

Up for sale is my treasured Hughes & Kettner "BATT" tube bass preamp. Alas, with the arrival of the Streamliner, this will no longer be needed. Hard to let go of though.

The Hughes & Kettner "BATT" tube bass preamp, discontinued in the mid-90s, is an all-tube, half-rack preamp/amplifier. Its five-watt power amplifier will drive a speaker to practice levels. Of particular note is the ability to take a line- or instrument-level signal from either the preamp or the power amp stages. Taking the signal from the power amp provides all of the output-transformer coloration that a tube amp has. Download a manual here: http://www.cfcl.com/rick/personal/batt.html

$ 285.00 shipped paypal lower 48 No trades.

This is what I paid for it along with the cost of a new preamp tube. The amp tube is the one that came with it.
Preamp tube: EH12AX7 Gold Pin Power tube: [older] Sylvania 6BQ5 EL84

Works perfectly. Very slight scratchiness in some of the tone controls but only when adjusting. Does NOT effect the actual sound in any way.

Lettering on top is wearing off.

First two pics are the actual unit. Third pic is generic.

Looks sweet. Can it drive a power amp? Does it sound like anything I may have heard?

I mean is the output (not the power amp) line level?
