***SOLD***

$400.00 + shipping/packing. --See special offer below!--

This is a custom Low Down Sound 2x12" + 2x6" bass speaker cabinet rated 500 watts @ 4ohms. The cabinet is loaded with two Eminence Deltalite II 12's and two Alpha 6" mid drivers. Dimensions are 26"W x 24"T x 16"D and weight is around 65 lbs. with the removable casters. The back panel features both Speakon and 1/4" connections. The cab has a very tough spray on bedliner finish. It's in very good gigged condition, w/2 brand new 6" drivers and one freshly re-coned 12". The cab comes with a metal perforated grill and a Fender-style cloth grill. I've never tried putting the cloth grill on the cab, so I can't vouch for its fit. There are also some marks on the cloth grill where a previous owner used silicone sealant around the speaker cutouts (visible in pix).

The cab has a full, but controlled sound: Plenty of low end, and lots of presence on top from the Alpha sixes. Chef described this cab as "vintage plus a little more top end". To me, the best word is "clean". I like this cab a lot, but it's just not "my sound." I'm actually selling this cabinet because I want something that will color my tone a little more.

If you don't want to pay for shipping, I can meet you in the Nashville area for pickup. Cash or PayPal only.

Here's Chef's original description of the cab.

Fry-Day Morning Special Offer!

Here's a Fry-Day morning bump, with a special offer:

$25.00 off the listed price if you can name the three degrees of separation between renowned engineer John Fry and Tal Wilkenfeld.

I'll try two degrees -- Stevie Ray Vaughan used the studio; he toured with Jeff Beck; she's Beck's bassist.
Ever play an upright through this cabinet?
Give me a guesstimate on shipping to 48165. I could do residential or business if it's different.
If it doesn't sell on ebay, I may be your man...
Thanks!

Good guess, jumpcat. I hadn't made the SRV connection. You're right about Jeff Beck, but I had two more direct links in mind before him...

UPS estimates $49.00 commercial and $51.00 residential for standard ground. Packing is on me.

Edit: Sorry, I forgot to answer your question about the upright. Unfortunately, I haven't tried an upright through the cab, as I don't own one...and that's probably a good thing!

Ah, a good direct one that I hadn't considered: John Fry engineered on Booker T's McLemore Avenue and MG Steve Cropper produced Beck's The Jeff Beck Group in 1972.

If you're in the market for a great deal on a cabinet, I'd say that qualifies as a $25.00 answer (although I'm still hoping someone will guess mine)!

Hint: It does involve another famous guitarist...

Do you still have this cabinet? If so, how much shipped to 62644?

On the off chance that anybody is still playing along at home, here's my answer to the three degrees of separation between renowned engineer John Fry and Tal Wilkenfeld:

John Fry:
-->

...worked at Ardent studios with Terry Manning (right):
-->

...who engineered Led Zeppelin III, and was a friend of Jimmy Page:
-->

...who was in The Yardbirds with Jeff Back:
-->

...who once and for all settled the "Chick vs. Chick With Bass" question by hiring Tal Wilkenfeld.

So there you have it!
