FS - Older SWR Henry 8x8 in CT - Sounds Great!

Sign in to disble this ad
Greetings,

For your consideration today, a well-worn but fantastic-sounding SWR Henry 8x8. I have had it for 2 years, and it has worked great for me in live situations. For those who are not familiar with this cab (though I suspect most are!) it handles the low B better than almost anything else, despite its 8-inch cone size. And, it is much easier to move around than an 8x10, especially given the wheels, which work fine on this specimen.

The most noticeable flaw it the fact that the rat fur is coming off a bit on the bottom of the cab, but this is not noticeable normally, as it is sitting on that side when in use (of course.)

This is a pickup only item! I'm in northwest Connecticut, and will be going to the Hartford/Storrs areas a lot in the near future if that might help someone with an in-person exchange. Western Mass and Westchester/Duchess counties in NY are also close by.

I am pretty new to doing business here on TalkBass, but have perfect feedback (also as "subtlestew") over many transactions on Ebay.

I'd like to get $350 for this thing.

PM me with your email for more pictures!

Bethel!

AdamR, I've got some errands to do in the Danbury/Bethel area...want me to bring it down with me? Or, you could come up here and give it a spin with my AMP BH-420, or my Hartke LH1000.

It sounds so purrrrty!

Anyone else want to come and check it out?

I'm tempted too. Played through a borrowed one at a festival gig last year and it was pretty great.

Is there any difference in the "older" version? Did these change at all over time? Thanks

Henry Changes

RickC,

As far as power handling (480 watts at 4 Ohms) and configuration (eight 8" speakers) I don't think they have changed. This one, as you can see, doesn't have the chrome grill the newer ones have, and it is definitely old enough (I would guess) to pre-date the sale of SWR to Fender. For most SWR aficionados, this is a good thing. They may have used different speakers back in this one's day than they do now, but if they did, I'd guess that the older ones are at least as good as the newer ones, if not better.

It does sound sweet.

Let me know if you want to give it a spin here in Kent, or if I can meet you somewhere for a sale.

From what I read the early cabinets were built by Edan, later cabs have Emmince (spelling?) speakers
