FS ONLY: Read Purity bass preamp -- price drop!

Sign in to disble this ad
PRICE DROP -- Now $600 shipped!

No trades on this one -- I've already irked the wife with my latest purchase and this has to go to help fund it.

Up for sale is a Read Purity tube bass preamp. If you're reading this, you probably already know it's one of the best bass preamps ever made, and Jack Read stopped making them many years ago, so they're not the easiest piece of gear to find.

I'm selling this one since my Brunetti is coming back to me and something's gotta go. It hurts to sell it though -- I was playing through it last night and really wishing I could hold on to it, but The Management says something has to go.

There is only one issue with this preamp -- during shipment to me, one of the knobs (the "Emphasis" knob) was bent due to the shipper's lousy packing job. It's still fully functional (there is a difference in "feel" between it and the other knobs, but otherwise works fine), but is a cosmetic issue that the buyer should be aware of. I could probably fix it, but I have been lazy about getting around to it, since it doesn't affect the functionality of it. It might just be that the mounting of the pot is bent inside, since the pot shaft seems to be straight and the angle of the knob doesn't change when you turn it. Here's a closeup of the knob from a different angle, showing the angled knob:

Otherwise, it's in terrific shape.

I'm now looking to get $600 shipped via paypal.

That seems like a very reasonable price. These are REALLY tough to find. And Jack built these things to last so they are really bullet proof.

And to top it off the seller is a really great guy to deal with. None really finer than Bart.

I bought some QSC HPR122i powered monitors for main PA speakers. They kick ass.

I still have the Brunetti (when I can get up to the gorge and get it back) as well as the Summit to use with my IP310, and in any event, I'm gigging the Genz Shuttle/Berg AE410 all the time anyway.

I do have a VERY tolerant/enabling wife.

Last bump for a while. I leave on Sunday and except for a few days at the end of the month, will be out of town until April 8.

Killer bass preamp bump.

Wow, how times have changed in here. A year or two ago this would have been snapped up in a day or two and at a much higher price.
I had one and these are fantastic preamps........I sold mine on here in no time and for much more than this I might add.
