I'm continuing my massive purge and renewal. This stuff has had it's day (and oh those summer nights), but it's time to move it along to someone who bring the passion back. Sovtek MIG 100 - $Now on Ebay.
Looking for something with a little more bite? This may be the beast for you, 100 all tube watts of fury. This kid isn't for the meek or the weak (of which I qualify as both). This Marshall JCM800 clone has had all it's switches and jacks upgraded (they shipped with plastic parts).
Extended photo gallery Schroeder 1210R - $380
Rat fur has been replaced with purple Tolex. There is a little wear and tear (esp on the top from the heavy Sovtek sitting on it), but on the whole it's holding up very well. Certainly unique looking. Additionally there is an integrated hand cart installed for easy movement.
Please let me know if there are any questions!

I understand this is a guitar head, and that it's a clone of a Marshall JCM800 (as you mentioned) which is very much a guitar head, but does it work on bass? And by work I mean, I'm sure that if you plugged it in it would make a sound, but is it a usable gigging tube bass amp? Or not at all?

1) Turn the presence knob off, all the way down. Forget it's on there.
2) Push the bass knob to 8 or 9, don't be shy about it.
3) Mids to taste.
4) Treble to taste with 4 being about max.
and BAM you pretty much have
I've used it for some recording bassfuzz.com stuff. This youtube demo (start around 5:25) features recordings with a few basses where I turned up the amp up pretty loud (only an SM58 mic mind you) and you can get an idea of the tone/bass. The clean samples are pretty short though. Volume has never been an issue, though I'm sure someone playing Shea Stadium would disagree.
IMHO this sucker is an amazing double threat for someone who plays both bass and guitar. |
