FS: Rare Trace Elliot Combo

Sign in to disble this ad
Awesome Brittish made Trace combo amp - GP7 SM 150, 150 watts single 10' or 12' inch speaker. Sounds huge because of the enclosure (closed front with the slight opening). Have used this to gig and record many times, has the classic Trace tone. Very portable (I guess it weighs 50 lbs or so, easy to lift) and clean for its age (green tolex is clean and in excellent shape) Comes with a black cover for the amp that has a side pouch for the power cord.

Would like to keep deal within 100 miles or so of Columbus Ohio vs. shipping for now...

Looking for $450 OBO

That's really hip. I bet the dispersion is nice and wide.

If you don't mind, what advantage is that to have that closed front design? Never seen that before...what does it do to the sound?

It seems to really provide a rounder and much larger sounding low end than you would expect with a single "normal" speaker cabinet...

It's similar in principle to a folded horn enclosure. You get a strong low end that projects into the room better than you could expect from a 10" in an equivalent front-loaded enclosure. The mids and highs suffer IME, but those frequencies are largely masked in the mix anyway.

Bump for a cool amp that, sadly, is no longer in production. I had one of these back in the 90s and loved it. It's much louder than you would expect from a single 10" driver, and it has a really powerful, deep, tight bottom end. Great for the low B string.

Bumpin the sweeeeeeet amp..... I played one a while back but is wasn't for sale and the owner said never would be!

Not that I am biased towards Trace Elliot gear or anything but,
Buyer will NOT be disappointed with this amp or it's design.
