I am offering a highly revered, all tube, excellent condition Retrospec Juice Box (circa '97-00) preamo/DI. It turns out, as things often go, that I may not have any real need for this in the near future so I am putting up for sale. I just bought a bigger amp/cab setup and this may unfortunately have to go.
I was told that it was serviced in house in 2000. It has the upgraded 22K and 43K resistors. I also just installed a brand new Electro Harmonix 12BH7 but also have the 12FQ7 tube that came with it as well (which also works 100%). Original box and paperwork.
I recently received this info regarding tubes in these units:
"As to the tubes: they are readily available on the open market. The unit was designed around the 12BH7 tube for output, and it's best performance is with that tube (higher output; lower distortion and noise). We started using 12FQ7 tubes because, at the time, there was no reliable source of 12BH7s. Since then, the Russians have stepped in with a reasonable replacement. Both tubes, in use in the current production version, are of the Electro-Harmonix brand."
So the old worry about tube available is no longer necessary. Works 100% and sounds great. Just more than I need right now. For those that like the mojo factor this box was used on a Grammy award nominated CD. If it had actually one I would be asking twice the price.
These are a bit hard to come by and this is an excellent example.
