Well, this pre is super-nice but just a little too "modern" for my current project (oldies, C/W, R&B). Its racked at the moment so no pics until I find the energy to de-rack the stupid thing. No issues whatsoever and she's now sporting an NOS Brimar (UK) tube. This particular unit is more than 3 years old so no Jensen DI transformer. I trust you're smart enough not to inadvertantly cook a chip with phantom power.

Not sure what I'm looking for in terms of trades but I will tell you I'm leaning more heavily on my SansAmp RPM. Some may consider this the "trad vintage vibe" which is fine by me. I have no preference with regards to tube vs. solid-state. Cash +/- for the right trade. Let me know what you've got!

Pics coming up tomorrow!

Riis

have you tried various tubes in this? You could get a whole new vibe from it...

I pulled the stock EH valve and replaced it with the aforementioned Brimar. It changed the character slightly but the true Demeter tone still shines through.

I've got a nice Ampeg SVP-CL I'd be happy to trade (plus some other odds and ends that may interest a vintage tone seeker). It sounds great, and is the opposite of a Demeter preamp (I use to have a VTBP-201). I just don't have a use for it anymore.

Free bump from a HPB-1 owner having the same issue. I'm even thinking Sansamp RBI for that total vintage tube tone.

I have one of those in my second rack...actually its an RPM but you get the idea. I'm looking for something similar to the SansAmp in character but not exactly the same.

No harm done. Great minds think alike!

BTW, we played an outdoor gig yesterday and was concerned I might experience some thermal issues with my rig, especially the Crest CA-6. Did a little research and was able to upgrade the cooling fan with no modification to the Crest's chassis. Here's a comprehensive illustration and wiring mod. schematic all wrapped up-in-one:

That a horse trailer behind the van? If so, no comment!
