FT Feeler Alembic F-1X, QSC GX3

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm thinking about trying something new so up for possible trades is my Alembic F-1X preamp and QSC GX3 both housed in a Peterson 3- space rack. I could do just the preamp or the whole enchillada. I would very much like to keep this local (Atlanta Metro) if at all possible. I'm pretty much just looking for heads/preamps but I may consider fretted 5s as well.

Things I'm interested in include but are not limited to (+/- cash as appropriate):
  • Genz Benz
  • Mesa
  • Aguilar
  • GK Fusion 550

Any interest in grading the Alembic for an ADA MB-1 preamp? Tube and solid state blendable channels, high/low shelving EQ, plus a 3 band parametric mid EQ, built in compression and chorus, two FX loops with level controls, all in a tidy 1U MIDI controllable package.

That's interesting for sure, but I think I'm looking for something a bit simpler.

Certainly not as simple as a standard knob-based preamp. But it is still simple to operate as most everything has a dedicated button to control each feature. And you're under no obligation to control it with MIDI. Setup your one sound and leave it there if that's your thing. Or you can still bop through the presets with the front control up/down buttons. Still has a master output volume knob to easily control the output. 2 tubes in the tube side of the preamp good for character, solid state is the side for the low end thump and power and dialing in high end crispness.

Hmm . . . I'll mull it over.

If this were to come available F/S, I'd love to take it off your hands.

I would suggest giving the Alembic more time. Ive owned one, sold one and owned them again, and Ive decided its a keeper. Hard to get a bad sound out of it, which is important in a live setting.

You're not the first person to express this sentiment. I'm starting to think I might just keep it.

I don't think you would be sorry if you did. Not all that easy to come by in the first place and, as noted, several folks here on TB have sold them-some more than once-only to realize that they felt the need to get another one. Although I don't use mine much, every time I haul it out, it's love all over again. Be sure to 'exercise' the effects loop jacks from time to time...

Though I am sure I will regret it, it looks like this one's found a new home.
