FT: Mesa Walkabout for GK 800RB or...

Sign in to disble this ad
Extra points for a local Portland area deal!

So, I've had two Walkabouts for a while now, and have come to accept the fact that the application I had intended to use both at the same time for is probably never going to materialize!
I am still crazy in love with the Walkabout tone, but really don't need two identical amps when I could try something new! Both of my Walkabouts are basically identical- both are newer blackfaced era and both have the updated inputs and effects loops original from the factory. I believe both are less than five years old, though I only have the reciept/warranty for one, so that's the one I'm keeping. I haven't had any issues with either and have used them both interchangeably (one as part of the Scout combo, and one with my NV610)...

more pics (apologies for the blurriness- I think I might need to clean my camera lens!):
http://s129.photobucket.com/albums/p...e%20Walkabout/
I have often wanted to own an 800RB, since so many of my favorite players in the past have used them to great effect- so that is my top trade interest. I'd ideally want a comparable 800RB (so fairly new and in clean condition) plus a little bit of money on your end ($150 or so). I'd take an older one as well, but with a little more cash added.
Other than that, I might entertain similar more modern heads that can still get pretty aggressive when needed- a Mesa M3 would be killer (but an 800RB is definitely tops!)...I might also be interested in a nice Jazz bass with maple or ebony fretboard.

I'll post pics tomorrow after work, and feel free to ask any questions and make any offers!

Thanks for the offer, but I actually got rid of my M6 to fund my second Walkabout in the first place- it was just too much firepower for my current needs!

I've had a couple folks offer those. I really need to take a trip down to a GC and spend some time with one to see for sure though- I've just never spent the time with one that I have with the 800RB. I also like the potentials of the 800RB crossover more, though I may well never use that... I'll get back to you!

I have a mint LMIII i would consider trading if interested. It is completely pristine with original box, packaging and manuals.

Thanks, but I am not really a fan of the Little Mark tone from what I've messed around with!

Yeah, check one out and get back to me... Although there's no denying that the 800rb is a classic, IMO the 700rb-II is more versatile... Up until recently, I've been using two of them for gigging and rehearsals - but traded one towards a Big Block 750... When I saw your ad, I started thinking that going all-Mesa for a bit with my amplification might not be a bad idea...

Thanks, but none of those are quite what I'm looking for from the GK camp!

Too bad it's not the full combo...I'd consider my Fusion 550 in trade if you where interested. Killer amp, but what to try something different.

Nope- definitely keeping one Walkabout and my Scout combo cab. It's by far the best small gig amp solution I've ever come across!

Never hurts to ask! Sure you don't want to trade me one of your excess Laklands? I've been gassing for a Skyline Jazz of some sort for ages...(just throwing it out there! ) Seriously though- that looks like quite the collection!

Finally got a chance to rock out through a 700RB for a decent amount of time today, and I am convinced that I can also make one do my bidding! In other words- I will extend my enthusiasm to a 700RBII (+ cash on your end) trade...bump

Thanks for the offer, but I think the grind from the lower power heads is what attracts me to them- that has certainly been the case with the 800RB (I remember a couple of my favorite harcore bands back in the day that were essentially diming them to get "that" tone!). While I will be competing with two drummers in my new project, I want to be able to get "that" tone in other less-loud projects in the future as well!
