FT or Possible sale: Aguilar DB750 in SKB rack case

Sign in to disble this ad
Its difficult to type this...but im putting my beloved Aguilar DB750 up for grabs. I cant imagine it will take long for me to regret this...but i kinda need the money, and am shifting directions.

There are two minor things wrong with it. One...the "Gnd/Lift" switch lever on the DI broke off. It literally came off in my hand one day. Switch still functions...super cheap part.
Second issue...it needs a new DI tube. I was inspecting it a few weeks ago and i DROPPED the tube...the DI hasnt worked right since. I suck.

Looking for around $1350 with the wheeled rack case. If you pick it up and dont haggle me on price, i will throw in the Ashly CL 100 compressor that lives in the rack with it.

Here's that catch...your trade offers must include an amp as i gig regularly. Entertaining Aguilar TH500, GenzBenz ShutteMax, Markbass LM....something small would be very nice. Must have a tube pre. All of these would require cash also...

Thanks!

(eden for sale also!!)

Just out of curiosity, which position was this tube (v1, v2, or v3)?

For those interested in the amp, the replacement tube will be a 12AX7 and probably not cost much.

Nuts...i don't remember placement. From the factory...the DI tube is a 12au7. The rest of the preamp tubes are 12ax7s....as stated.

The tubes in v1 through v3 are 12ax7s. The v4 is a 12au7. If the 12au7 in v4 was broken, the amp wouldn't even work because that's the tube that drives the power stage.

There's a long thread on the tubes in the DB750 and their functions here: The DB750 and the Telefunken/Amperex Tube Swap!

According to the manual...there are 4 pre amp tubes....3 ax....and 1 au. Power amp is SS.

Though I'll defer to you guys....I don't know much about this stuff.

That is correct. The final gain stage before the signal hits the solid state power amp is driven by the 12au7.

I used to have a DB750 and the 12au7 in v4 was super noisy. I removed it to see if that would fix things but it just disabled the amp. Eventually $20 worth of new 12au7 fixed things nicely.
