FT: Univox U1220 all tube head

Sign in to disble this ad
up for grabs is a Univox U1220 head, circa 1970.

this head is interesting... it looks identical to a U1220, but it is all tube. one speaker output, labeled 8 ohms (in sharpie), although I've seen a similar Univox run at 4 ohms to no ill effect. it used to be in a black, slant-front case, but I rebuilt the casing into a squared-off front, and painted the box blue-ish purple (only color I had on hand at the time), although I could change that with some paint if desired. power tubes are new, and the amp recently underwent a full check up and repair, yet there are a few original tubes in the preamp. power tubes are groove tube 6l6's

amp is rated somewhere between 60w and 100w (not a lot of info out there on this amp), but i found it to be plenty loud for guitar or bass (Not ridiculously loud, but loud enough to gig with certainly). sound is similar to a fender bassman to my ears.

I'm looking to trade this towards an all tube bass head that can operate at 2 ohms. something like a V4, traynor YBA 1/2/3, mesa D-180 or Buster bass, or who knows what else!

I can add a Sunn concert bass to even out any deals if desire. pretty standard blackface w/ red lettering. veryvery clean unit.

beyond that, I could even throw in the 5 stringer listed in my sig.

Local deals near boston or new york city would be best. Thanks for looking! don't hesitate to PM me with questions, or requests for pics!
