Kern ip-777 preamp F/S -the best!!! $650

Sign in to disble this ad
This fantastic preamp is for sale. I've used it only occasionally recently, because I've discovered I'm a little bit more of a fender passive tone stack kind of guy. That said this is fantastic, fat sounding, amazingly versatile, hand built by Les Ploppa and increasingly rare.
http://www.kernacm.com/
Sonically it's like nothing else, but if I had to unpack my adjectives I'd say that it has the tubey goodness, depth and punch of an Ampeg tube front end but the ability to add some shimmer thanks to a great EQ section. Think: Pino Paladino's tone on D'Angelo's Voodoo., IMO.
I traded this for a Read Purity and missed it too much- had to have it back. Now I'm using a Demeter, a vintage Alembic F2B and others. None of them quite do what this one does but something needs to go. I've used this for a few recording sessions with great success but only taken it out on 3 gigs. Very clean shape.
Includes original Wall Wart power supply. Does not include the SKB case in the photo.
$650 shipped to US 48 and pay pal included.
Please post or PM me with any questions.
ONLY possible trades are-
Trades + $$$ from you:
Covers for Epifani UL 110, UL210, UL310

Even trades or + cash from me for:
Lakland skyline Glaub ( P or PJ ) with a 1.5 width neck/nut
Fender MIJ Precision (P or PJ) with a 1&5/8ths" width nut

Thanks

Thanks!

I agree that this is a great unit. If I could only have one tube preamp it very well might be this one.
Someone hurry up and buy this before I talk myself out of selling it!
Additional trade ideas:
Crest CA9 power amp
Stewart World 1.2 poweramp (+ cash obviously)

I agree-The Kern and Read Preamps are the best sounding all tube preamps that I've tried. Both are flexible but both have unique characteristic sounds that can't be found in anything else.

I cant believe this hasnt been snatched up-great price.I owned a Read and a Kern at the same time-no contest for me.The Kern is my all time favorite pre and of all the gear Ive ever sold,it was the hardest to let go of.You may someday regret selling this!

Must...resist...

...can't...horde...gear!!!

Dude, you are killing me. I already do regret it.
One thing I'm pretty sure of is that I'm going to stick to my price- I don't want to say "firm" but if I can't get $625 out of the deal after expenses or some things I need in trade then I will hold on to it...<sigh>
I can't stop being a gear-monger over night, right?

Best piece of gear I've ever had the pleasure of using... Les Ploppa was also cool when I had a problem even though I got mine used after they were out of production.
