I thought that they all have xlr out.

Yes they do. In addition, it has a variable direct output knob for added flexibility.

I'd be interested in seeing this, or is it just a pad on the DI?

I own one of these units, currently mine is up with Les to switch it over to the wall wart version. He told me they only made around 115 units!!! I was shocked, extremely rare unit and this is a seriously good price.

It is whatever came standard - the direct level knob on the front of the unit. I don't know if it attenuates or boosts but it does add xlr output level flexibility.
