EDIT: I realize that the only things that this cab has in common with an actual fEarful cab is the 15/6/1 driver configuration and the crossover. It has completely different dimensions from the cab that Greenboy designed is pretty far from being a fEarful cab. There's a trend on TB to call many different 3-way cabs premised upon the Eminence 3015LF and an 18 Sound mid-driver a "nEarful" cab. I picked up this habit without giving it too much thought. In hindsight, it seems to me that calling this cab a nEarful cab clouds the waters too much and runs the risk of seeming to be deploying hyperbole to make a sale. I can't change the title of my post. Suffice it to say that, if I could re-title this post, I would simply call this cab a Low Down Sound 15/6/1 in order to completely avoid associating this cab with an entirely different beast.
I bought this Low Down Sound cab from TBer deb a couple of months back. Great cab, but not ideal for my purposes. I'd like to see if someone wants to work some sort of trade.
First, about the cab...
Deb took delivery of this cab from LDS some time in early 2011 to the best of his recollection. When I bought it from him in June, it looked like it had never been out of his apartment. I've used it on about a dozen gigs with either my V4BH or my SVT-VR. The verdict... a great sounding cab, but I'm more comfortable with 410 and 810 setups, regardless of the science behind these full-range designs. Plus, I really need to have a 4 ohm cab.
I've managed to put some light scuffs on it - mostly on the jack plate (see the pics for the scuff marks). No rips or tears in anything.
Here's the original thread...
FS: LDS 12/6 and 15/6/1 cabs (Toronto, Canada)
The cab is configured with...
- Eminence 3015LF woofer
- 18 Sound mid-driver
- Eminence ASD1001 tweeter
- dark wine coloured tolex with grey/black woven grill cloth
- Greenboy's CBG cross-over (implemented by LDS)
- steel side handles
- casters
- 58 lbs!!
- L-pads on the mid and the tweeter
- 8 ohms
Everything works. It's nicely put together. Don does great work.
I've picked up a used Goliath III 4 ohms, so I'm not real motivated to pick up another cab unless you have a Mesa Vintage Powerhouse 410.
I could really use a Highway 1 Precision to use on gigs that I have to fly to (I don't like flying with any of the basses I currently own).
Hit me up with trade offers. I'd prefer to keep it local to Toronto, the GTA, and a reasonable drive from there. I'm in Hamilton.
I suppose you could just buy it from me if you're so inclined
