Mesa Boogie Bass 400+ - ALL TUBE goodness!

Sign in to disble this ad
Up for sale is a Mesa Bass 400+ in excellent condition.

This amp came to me as a trade-in for a bunch of guitar repairs.
I have checked it out fully and it works great with no issues.
The tubes are pretty fresh and should last for a good long while.

This amp has incredible volume and depth - the 12 power tubes really deliver. The lows are way deeper and 'broader' than my old Trace V-type pre/Mackie 1400 setup.

This also has a punch and 'grunt' that sets it apart from other all-tube amps. Ampegs always sound 'soft' and 'slow' to my ears. This amp does not - it responds with a quick attack and really kicks.

Did I mention it's LOUD? Really loud. Way too much for my needs, or else I'd keep it in a second.

Two channels, 3-band rotary EQ and Graphic EQ makes for a lot of sonic options.

Can deliver full power at 8, 4, or 2 ohms.

Weighs in around 50 lbs. A lot lighter than an SVT head.

Asking $875 plus actual shipping cost via UPS Ground.
PayPal would be ideal.

Please PM if you have any questions or interest.
I don't always see the threads right away.

This amp will not let you down. Again - if I ever had a gig that would let me turn this up past "2", I would keep it!

Interested. A quick question, though. You mention that the tubes are pretty fresh & should last a good long while. Did you or the previous owner re-tube recently, or how did you go about making that determination?

Hey,

The age of the tubes is by the account of the prior owner.
They all appear to be working well with no untoward glow or anything. I don't have the gear to test each tube, I'm afraid.

As I understand it, these amps run the tubes pretty gently, and just use a bunch of them. So they're supposed to last a while...

Best,
Martin

I beleive the bias is set by the mesa on these amps so the tubes last longer.
Last i read the tubes are usually good for 2 to 3 years.
