Musicman HD-500 Hybrid Amp.

Sign in to disble this ad
Two channel SS/Tube amp. Very clean, but can dial in some dirt.
The precursor to MarkBass, I think they were made by the same company for EBMM.
500 watts @ 4 ohms, 350w @ 8 ohms. Includes 4-button foot switch, which is very hard to find. FWIW, It has a low serial number, under 100.
Has some rack rash and wear on the chromed knobs, but runs quiet and sounds great.
I waited a long time to get one of these to go with my EBMM Audiophile HD cabs, but serious vintage bass gas has taken hold, and I need to shed some gear.
Looking for $450 shipped & insured to the continental USA.

Thanks for looking. Will post pictures tomorrow.

Finally got around to taking pics.

Is this the one with the solid state preamp and tube power section? I don't know much about Musicman amps... didn't even know they existed until a few months ago.

It has a tube pre and SS power amp. They were made for Musicman by the Italian company that makes Markbass amps.

You are referring to the 70s (pre-Ernie Ball) Musicman tube amps- I had one that was great...this was one of a short run of more modern amps by the "new" Musicman company, and are also supposed to be great amps!

Down to the nightclub.
Bump de Bump de Bump.

Anyone care to make an offer on this fairly rare and most excellent amp?

These were made in Italy, yes. Look at the photo of the back of the amp. I owned one of these. MarkBass is mum if you ask them if they made these, but I have read from more than one source these were indeed the pre-cursor to the MarkBass line of amps.

Gigged one for a while. Great tube grind, plenty loud! I consider Markbass stuff to be clean/sterile compared to this amp.

Sorry, haven't checked in here for a while. The amp has a wide variety of tones, from very clean to some tubey dirt. Lots of volume.
Been getting plenty of interest, but it's still here for now.
Thanks for the thumbs up, Fenderhutz & Birminghambass.
