PEAVEY MEGA BASS and T-MAX heads!

Sign in to disble this ad
Letting go of my two workhorses...hate to, but Ive got my eye on something new, and I have too many bass heads. I have owned both of these for about 10 years or more, and they have always performed well and never failed me, and yes they have been gigged quite a bit.

T-MAX - very good condition, all knobs function well, volume knob is a little bit scratchy, but not bad. Tube has never been replaced as far as I know. It has the usual loud fan. The ground on the plug is snapped off. 350W @ 4 ohms, 500W @ 2 Ohms $250 shipped in the USA.

MEGA BASS - really good condition for its age, although the top is scratched up quite a bit, chorus works, again some scratchy pots, no other issues that I know of. Onboard crossover, 2 x 200W. $225 shipped in USA.

Feel free to ask any questions, not open to trades...thanks!

Missed this before. Going to read up on this but I might be interested! Does the power cord disconnect from the back?

Hey man, overall which head would you recommend? All peavey stuff are workhorses and generally infallible, but I know the tmax has a part that CAN fail and you can't replace. But the megabass is solid state so the same problem is not applicable.

Which did you like best? Which is more versatile?

Thanks!

Those T-Max heads are pretty stellar. I rocked one for quite a few years before I switched to an SVT.

LOL...I forgot these were still on here. I have REALLY been gigging with the TMAX lately, and using the tube pre more than i ever have in the past...been very pleased with the grind Ive been getting out of it.
They are both great heads...the Megabass is great because of the two separate 200W amps inside it, so if you wanna run two different cabs, but want to push more power to one than the other, you can easily.

"Which is better" is irrelevant without info of what you're interested.

I've owned both -- different vibes.

I keep the Megabass for my large rig.. it's one of the few heads that facilitates a 1x15 + 2x10.. I use it on with a 7 string.. this allows the high end to have chorus and the low to sound like a bass.

TMax is great for someone in a gigging cover or classic rock band.

Both understated heads.
