For sale: Demeter VTBP 201 Tube Bass Preamp

Demeter VTBP 201 Tube Bass Preamp

This was the Bass Player Magazine "reference" model preamp for many years. It is a great unit for recording or live applications. Makes getting a great bass sound easy.

Uses 2 12AX7s, Volume, Bass (switchable 120Hz and 60Hz), Middle, Treble, Presence (switchable 3Khz and 6Khz), and Bright Switch, Effects Loop, 1/4 inch outs, Jensen DI Out, Ground Lift. Very good condition.

You can find more info and photos of one like it here, (photo courtesy of Krazy Kat Music). Mine doesn't have too much "rack rash":

Krazy Kat Music » Blog Archive » SOLD! Demeter VTBP-201 Tube Bass Pre-Amp.

This one was sold, mine is not, yet .

Here's what Demeter says about it:

“The Demeter Amplification Tube Bass Preamplifier incorporates truly modern tube design technology with circuit features found on only the most expensive and esoteric, tube hi-fi equipment. The VTBP-201 preamplifier has the warmth and dynamic range that only tubes can produce, yet has lower noise specs than most solid state devices. Each preamp is carefully hand wired using only the highest quality parts and tested at the Demeter factory in Van Nuys, CA. You can see as well as hear the quality and attention to detail on both the inside and out. The VTBP201 is the reference standard by which all other tube preamps are judged.

The VTB201 Tube Bass Preamplifier uses only the finest 1/2 watt, 1% metal film resistors, polypropylene capacitors, high quality, computer grade switches, and a 7025A vacuum tube are factory selected for lowest possible noise and distortion. The preamplifier also has a low output impedance which lowers distortion and insures proper power amplifier input matching. A custom toriodal power transformer and Jensen balanced D.I. output are featured in a rack mount steel chassis.”

$350 + shipping. Paypal preferred.

Thank you!

Tom is in Vermont.

Guys, I just picked one up locally, and it was quite a bit more than what Tom is asking for his. This is a steal at this price.

This is a fantastic price. I paid 100 bucks more than that for mine. All other amps are gone from my house now. I even picked my demeter/power amp rig over my Aguilar dB750 for tone.

This is a great price, again...

I love it too... I just need to trim ship and raise funds.

Thanks!

+ another for a great price. I don't regret paying a good bit more than that for mine.

Currently has 110v. cord. I'm not sure if it's convertible; how would I check?

If you mean 1 1/2 rack-space, then yes. I could measure inches if you want, but it's around 2+.

I've had it 3 or 4 years, bought it used here on Talkbass; I think the tubes are Sovtek but I'd need to take it apart to confirm that.
