I didnt think that I would ever let this Gem go but seems like there is alot of that going on around here.
Anyway the tone is amazing out of this unit the depth and clarity without all of the clatter and hiss that I got out of all of the other preamp's that came even close to achiving this kind of tonal nirvana,It sounds great for both Finger play or popping and slapping.
It has a 3 band EQ:treble,mid and bass with 2 outputs with seperate volume controls so you can send a line to the board or a tuner and your amp,you can also adj the input gain to a clean tone or really drive it for a heavy natural tube distortion.
If you havent had a chance to hear one of the these I would say it sounds like a Reddi tube DI and a Ampeg SVP-Pro mixed into one,it cuts through he mix with a deep rich full tone that is very pleasing and the clarity for harmonics and every little string nuance comes through because the lack of all of the printed circut boards you find on most of the mass produced stuff.
This is the most recently updated model from Sam it has one transformer and 1 12AX7 tube and 1 12AU7 tube in it,Please do a search on SAMAMP in the AMP section here on TB and you can read what other bass players have to say about this Sleeper of a Preamp.
