The Screw Chase Bank Sell Off (Part 2: The Amps!)

Sign in to disble this ad
So apparently if you're a broke college student Chase Bank hates your guts. It takes 3-5 business days to process a credit card payment made in cash. My last payment was paid on time but didn't process to the 8th, so I've got late fees and an automated machine has been calling me at 5am and 445pm every day telling me I'm going to default and I owe X dollars unless I paid up by the 4th. A real person called me today and told me I really didn't owe X, I owe Y now which is a considerable bit more (for July-August) which I don't have. Since a month long family/looking for work trip depleted my total cash reserves to a grand total of $22 I'm going to sell gear and just pay them off completely and tell them to screw themselves. I haven't even had a card with them since January.

This is part 2. Part 1 is here.

I have three bass amps. Two of which I'm putting up on the chopping block. Who else cries about having to sell an amp? This guy!

First amp up is an Aguilar AG500.$700+shipping

I picked this up on TB last year or the year before. In shipping it got a broken switch which was fixed with OEM parts. The input jack has been replaced as well. I think the screws for the top of the case are changed out as well with the same type of screw. That might have been the amp I traded for it though as my memory is kinda fuzzy.

I've had it in a rack since I've had it and it comes with rack ears! Great shape with some scuff marks from stuff moving into and out of the rack.

When I got it, it didn't come with a foot switch so my amp tech made me one to same specs as Aguilar. The only difference between mine and a real one is that mine doesn't have a sticker that says Aguilar.

Rich fat tone and gets plenty loud. I've been using this as a backline for awhile for when I host shows. Its in the same rack as my PA currently. If you want I'll toss in a Sabine rack tuner for an additional $70. I can't toss in a rack since its in the same one as my PA. If this sells I'll just put the bass through the PA and get a preamp eventually.

Second up is an Ampeg B25B for $375+ split shipping

55 watts of jaw dropping power! Its actually quite loud and the amp I use the most when I play out live. Good for clubs, bars, etc etc. If I need to get louder than that I'm playing through the PA anyways. Its got a NOS RCA 40 tube in the preamp for the crunch! I probably flibbed on the tube name so I'll check again when I get home. I think the other tubes might be NOS as well from when my tech checked it out. Or it might be JJs. As I said, my memory sucks and I'm currently 3000 miles away from my amp. I'll be back tomorrow though so never fear!

Its missing two of the plastic knobs on channel two. Replacements are available on fliptops.net. Rich warm tone that gets grindy when you push it. I like it a lot and don't want to sell it but I probably should. One or two pots are scratchy near the end of their turn otherwise it works fine.

Tolex is in great shape with some minor peeling on the bottom (could be reglued) and a few minor nicks. Got a clean bill of health from my tech a few months ago.

You should email a link to this thread to every chase employee email address you can find. Especially executives.

Thanks! I cancelled my card in January since I don't use it. I've been making the minimum payments plus a few dollars extra and I haven't even made a dent in the balance I owe. Why? They're charging me for card services on a card I don't have to the tune of $25 a month.

B25Bs sound great. My room mate owns one and I've used it at really small gigs in the past. Has that beautiful Ampeg tube crunch but not exactly the same as my V4B.

Down with Chase!

Good luck with the sale; I made the mistake of using Chase for some student loans. They're real jerks.

Chase are straight up criminals the way they treat their customers. My wife was long time customer and they started messing with her. My chase card is now paid off and about to be cancelled.

We had 6 accounts with Chase... 3 Business and 3 Personal accounts.
We dropped them all and went to a Community Credit Union... No Fees.
Civilian checking accounts are charged 10.00 monthly service fee.
Business checking accounts are charged 15.00 monthly service fee.
For WHAT? We do paperless billing/statements....
75.00 a month to be a Chase CUSTOMER ???? no thanks.. go pound sand, says I !

I'm 31 years old, and have never had a credit card!
It's like having a built in GAS-X dispenser.
Good luck with your sale!

"i hate B of A!!! (the trickiest bank of all) BUMP"

i made a CC payment with my Debit Card on the date due and they told me it posted late! late charge is $35.

i call them up to ask HOW can it post late when it was actually a Transfer!
they apologise, refund my money, and blamed it on a software glitch.

Back in NY and I'll post the tube info for the B25B tomorrow. I'll also measure it and weigh it. Since I don't have a box readily available for the Ampeg I'd get it professionally packed if I can. Its probably 35-40lbs.

Oh yeah and pictures too.

Thanks for the other anti-Chase sentiment. Went to a Chase branch today to give them money for the payment and they couldn't believe it takes so long for cash to go through. Apparently the regular people there don't know about it either and the manager was nice enough to call them and then call me.

This is the third and final time Chase screws with me. When I first got my student account they gave me a 12,000 line of credit which I used to consolidate all my debt since it was 6 months no interest. Cue month 5 and I try paying off the bill with my tax return. They didn't expedite the check like I asked and dropped my credit line down to 2100 which was 300 more than I owed them at the time.

always pay credit cards a couple days b4 the due date .. !!

pay them off every month .. !!

if you do that , you won't ever pay Any fees of any kind ..

that goes for all card issuers ... Chase , Cap 1 , etc ...

when you've successfully done that for a while , one quick phone call will resolve or forgive a mistakenly late payment .!

or lower your interest rate , if you are a Good , Responsible customer ... especially if you have a credit rating around 825 .. !! do the above with all your bills and you'll have great credit also .. !! learn how to Use them , then they won't use and abuse you .. !!

if you paid a bill on time , you should have a receipt that shows that ... send them a copy of that ! they will remove all the charges , If you can Prove them wrong ...

bare in mind i'm in my mid 50's .. and still from a generation that saved up money to buy things .. in stead of using up all our credit for things we couldn't yet afford ...

screwing up your credit will haunt you for a couple decades , so please use it wisely ...

the best way to Use the creditors , is to use their money.!
6-12 months free financing is a great example ... just don't screw up and miss any payments , or make any late payments , or pay it off Late ... that totally defeats the purpose .. !! because then you'll pay the interest you where trying to avoid ... !! Using someone elses money is a great thing when done proerly .. it's Free and it builds your credit !

The majority of charges on my CC are gas for my POS truck, metrotransit cards, and food. All my bass equipment is paid for in cash from gigs. I do agree with paying a few days before its due. I usually pay during my second pay period (mid month) but forgot to last time hence paying it the day before it due.

And sorry for not being online. My dog ate the internet router and I've no idea how to upload pictures from my iPod touch. New router should be here today.
