SVT III PRO $450obo

I have an SVT III Pro, I believe its a 98-99, can't recall but I bought it new in 99. In any case, it has 10 years light use and is missing the tube gain knob (just the knob, the pot is still there). The bad news, it needs some work. It powers up, all the features function, and it does make sound, but distorts even at lower volumes. I haven't gotten it to a tech to really look it over, so I am gambling here. This might need 100 bucks or less, I really don't know. In any case, they are going for 999 on MF right now, so its a good opportunity for someone who wants to give it a shot. Local to Springfield MA can get it at $400obo with an older rack (little corrosion, but fully functional and undamaged), shipping on a case by case basis, but in the $450 range and will be cheaper without the rack (CONUS only). Pics available, but not much to show, its got a few scratches on the handles and case, but nothing major.

I am selling it as is, but this could very well be a good deal for someone who wants to mess with it or can do it themselves, as I have opted to just sell it and buy something else.

OK, now I am really confused. MY new amp arrived today, I ABed them to ensure there wasn't a problem with the cab (which there wasn't) and low and behold, now this thing sounds fine. I know it seems implausible, but it has done this before and I am far to ignorant of the inner workings of hybrid amps to diagnose it myself. Either way, since it is working at the moment I may just end up keeping it, but I'll leave it up for a nither few days.

EDIT: Ok, more accurate description, it is pretty distorted sounding at lower volumes, the louder it gets the less distorted it gets until I really dial up the gain/tube gain and dig in hard (IE, it does what it' supposed to). I have never noticed this being normal in other SVTs or in this one when I used to run it through my older cabinet. I dunno, I am at a loss. For now I'll elave things as they are, but i am not sure there is actually anything that wrong with it. I can give more specifics if you may be interested since I don't really know what questions need to be answered.

eh, not much interest anyway, I think I may have overestimated the resale on this, but I think I am going to keep it anyway. The new one isn't all that impressive and I have a buyer for it already!
