SWR SM-500 Pre-fender

Sign in to disble this ad
SWR SM-500, The original kick ass, high fidelity, high power bass amp. Excellent condition, Pre-Fender buy out production.

Propoganda pulled from an SWR dealer:
This advanced head features stereo or mono operation (250 watts per side or 500W mono at 4 ohms), precision 4-band paragraphic EQ plus Bass, Treble, and Transparency controls (all EQ is +/-15dB cut/boost). Paragraphic EQ provides frequency sweep knobs and a level slider for each band. The SM500 has a tube preamp, an adjustable Limiter, SWR's famous Aural Enhancer, a sidechain Effects Loop with Blend control, Speakon and 1/4" outputs, and an XLR Direct Out with switching for Line/Direct mode. All this power, versatility, and tone from an amp only 20 lbs. in weight.

This is a serious professional amp, the best bass head SWR ever built (IMHO). Only selling b/c I'm lovin' the Mark Bass LMtube I got from DavidJBass

Asking $475 shipped in the lower 48

I have an 8 ohm Goliath II 4x10. Will this amp be ok for it as stand alone or would I have to run 2 cabs for the 4 ohm operation? I guess what I am saying is can the cab I have safely work with it? Thanks.

to get the amp down to 4 ohms in bridged mode you'll need to stack another 8 ohm cab in with it, but this will drive your 8 ohm cab just fine by its lonesome. you could even use the dual power amps and drive the 8 ohm cab on one side and a 4 ohm cab on the other.
