My beloved Trace "15" cab must go... The venerable 1153-T, covered in the British version of Tolex, is up for sale. Beautiful sound, full and deep with nicely balanced mids, and a nice touch of 'zing' in the top... I believe there are some reviews here on TB, including Mr Bowlus' favorable summation, in the Reviews section. 200w (conservative number here- it's a beastie) @ 8 ohms. Great cab, good throw and a satisfying belt to be had. I'm making room for a lighter combo that suits my small-room gig-life. Still have my trusty 1048, so I'm not going to bellow into my beer over it. Not until after the sale!
The cab is pictured below.
$250 is the price, no trade offers will be accepted at this time, sorry- I have to make something work here for the books at home. I prefer not to ship- that's actually rather a hassle... a New England sale would be ideal, as I'm in RI near Providence.
Thanks!

...After all the good buzz on these cabs, I'm a little surprised I'm still here hawking it. No one?

Ah, it's not in prime cosmetic shape: No racing stripe, badge is beat, the input jack needs to be adressed. Not a 'mint condition' cab, but a good 'vintage':
Also I've been seeing the 4x10s going for comparatively low bread in my neighborhood... maybe it's not the case everywhere?
But, the 1048 I have sounds great, is tight as a drum, runs like a Timex. It's a thought... I do like the 15 cab.

| | Swamp Yankee | | Join Date: Jun 2006 Location: Smithfield, RI | | Change of heart... my 1153-T isn't going away like I thought it would... and this has given me time to realize that I need to just stick to my original guns and get what I want! I want another 1153-T for a short-stack of punishing thump... so I'm pulling it off the block. It's safely back in my basement, from the consignment shop, and I'm just going to have to work a few more hours and deal. I know, I'm bad- I've done this before.
But, I've found my cojones!
Meanwhile, anyone interested in a swap for a 4x10??
The GP-11/MK IV is still up though.

Is it real dark sounding? | I've got its big brother, it's not scintilating but it works with EQ. Trace used to sell a "bright box", a tiny extension cab full of tweeters to put on top if you wanted more of the sparkly stuff.

Is it real dark sounding? | It's deep, and got plenty of 'dark and warm', but not muddy. I would say it's not so dark as to overwhelm the other freq's- it's actually got a lot of punch and presence, and gives up a nice spank in the top end.
The 1518, the larger one that Downunder mentioned has a more overwhelming low end- I had one years ago.

Is it real dark sounding? | Rest of answer- top end definitely exists in this cab! Not real 'sizzly', but not a sub-woofer by any means. Very nice all-around cab.
