TRACE ELLIOT PPA 600 power amp - rediculously loud !

Sign in to disble this ad
This is a Trace Elliot PPA 600 stereo power amp. It is waayyy loud. It has that "trace" sound. It has seen some road use, but is built like a tank. It has many scratches on it, but the important thing is that it works great, and is very loud. I put this up against a Crown XTi2000 and this was louder.

I heard that these were over $2,000 new but never really caught on because of the price. These are highly collectible to Trace Elliot fans who have green in their blood...
----- what look like big gouges on the front in the top left of the amp is just masking tape residue. Same with the middle. --------

I need to get $350 plus shipping, so let's just say $400 shipped FedEx Ground in lower 48 USA.

- Mike B or mb94952@yahoo.com for email. Either way, I get email notifications.

Yes, this is the same model John Entwistle used, only he used FOUR of them ! When he played a tiny club in Marin County a decade ago, the entire back wall was Trace Elliot and you didn't have to buy a ticket - You could hear the show just fine from the street !!

This amp is LOUD !

I saw a bunch of those club dates his band did. Those were the days weren't they! He was my bass idol and I never dreamed I'd get the chance to see him from about 6 feet away in a club.

I always tell my 5 year old when it thunders outside that is John Entwistle playing bass in heaven.

Does the bent rear mounting tab still alow for XLR use on channel B?
Is it bridgeable for mono operation at 4 ohms?

Yes, the photo angle makes it look more bent than it is. It will do XLR no problem.

It's pretty heavy (to me). My guess is around 40 lbs ?

I just took this thing to GC to trade it in yesterday. They had seen only 1 in the last two years and were not interested in it because he couldn't find a price point on it. We tested it out and everyone was amazed with the tone of it. We actually used a Sansamp preamp, and I couldn't resist telling him that we had achieved Geddy tone. He was unaware of it...
