I have read that with a tube amp you can run at a lower impedance than listed without causing long term damage, just shorter tube life, but I have never personally run anything lower than 4. This amp does get loud even at 8 ohms driving a 2x12. But more than just loud, it sounds great.

I e-mailed Traynor about this specifically and found out there would be no issue running the head at 2 ohms, although I never actually did it because my 2nd cab took awhile to get.
"The power will drop to about 175, but you'd be hard pressed to notice the difference in volume."
That's from Yorkville sound. So the power rating drops to 175 but would be negligible since you're most likely pushing a second cab. |
