Lightbulb Tube Heaven, Ampeg SVT-300 rack mount tube amp sale/trade feeler

Sign in to disble this ad
Sold!!
On her way to Cali, thanks alltube.

I am looking to sell or trade my Ampeg SVT-300 all tube rack mount power amp. In very good condition and clean as can be. Made in the early 90's, these were used in tandem with the SVT-II pre-amp. Using the same platform as the SVT heads but in a rack mount version, these beasts were and still are the muscle of the Ampeg line. 300 watts of heart stopping, house leveling tube goodness. Equiped with 6 SLM Electronics Hot Rocks 6550 tubes. I am open to trade offers, mainly of the Mesa Boogie ilk. I would also consider a Leo Era G&L L1K or L2K, the older the better. (I have # 833 L1K so the bar is pretty high) The shipping will be figured by your location. FedEx shows about $87 shipping to San Fran so that will most likely be the high as I am on the East Coast. My price is based on the Blue Book of Guitar Amplifiers valuation of VGC at $750-900 and GC at $600-650 (page 53 for bona fides). I have cell pics but I can take better ones upon request. If the price seems high, feel free to toss any and all offers my way. If you always wanted the crushing power of an Ampeg but wanted it rack mounted, this is the one for you. Cheers!

The specs say 85 lbs. (I have a down loaded manual) I figured the shipping on 90 lbs for box and packing. She stayed in the studio and I used a Mesa Mpulse 600 for shows, a lighter carry. I have teamed her with the tube pre of the Mesa and all I can say is, wow!

What preamp(s) have you used with it and how do they sound(can't imagine an SVT with a different pre, crazy!)? How long have you owned it (gigged, studio, etc.)?

The cat before me used a GK for a pre ( In his 60's and studio ) and I have used the pre from my Mesa Mpulse 600. Sounds creamy good and nasty bitch great, depending on my settings.

Im using a GK mb2-500 as a preamp right now with mines... I can really tell the difference in tone from going between the tube power and class-d. I never really got how a power amp section could add such fullness to a preamp..

Yes, 4 rack space mount. I may have one or might buy one for shipping, depending on the deal. This is the same power section (6-6550 tubes) for the Ampeg SVT-II Pro Series that is selling now for around $1800-$1900. The best part about this set up is you add the pre of your choice and get the house flattening power of Ampeg with the tone you already love.

Considering using my Bass VT into this as a backup / "other rig"... I already go Bass VT -> SVT-II -> 810E...

Hmmm.

I bet this would sound killer paired with a Sansamp RBI as well.
