$400 OBO
Okay, so I bought this from a friend and was planning to put together my own '70's P-bass with this thing, but honestly... I'm way too OCD about my instruments to build anything but an absolute period correct instrument off this neck. And really, I do NOT have the time, energy, or funds to devote to making that happen...
So I'm gonna sell it.
From what I can tell by the neck stamp (and its green ink), it's a '71. The ink is really faded, but I can make out the following:
5 (Precision)
02 (Lot number. There's usually three numbers here, but not in this case for some reason)
71 (7 for July/1 for the year 1971?)
B (width)
The Good:
It's in very good shape, with some extremely cool aging happening on the lacquer on the face of the headstock.
Minor nicks and gouges everywhere (as to be expected), but very solid, with nothing affecting structure or playability.
The thick gloss coating on the back of the neck and headstock are in great shape.
Frets appear to be original, and while low, are not grooved or damaged.
It appears to be straight as an arrow, but I've never bolted it on and strung it up.
Truss rod is fine (as confirmed by Bass Emporium)
Rosewood board looks great, with the exception of some minor gougy-ness on the first fret on the G side.
The bad:
No tuners.
No string tree.
It has a brass nut.
I'd like to get $500 out of this thing, but feel free to make an offer.
Trades considered (I don't care how ridiculous they are.. I'm gonna list em!):
Berg 1X12" or 2X10"
MIJ or MIA Precision
Genz Benz Shuttle 1X12" extension cab
Shuttle 9.0
Here are some lame-ass cell phone pics.. I should be able to get better ones tomorrow for those who are interested.
