this neck has been on my main bass since the end of 2010 (its been mated to mid 70's jazz bass body). i chose this neck over an allparts or warmoth because of its features. 7.25 radius, gloss poly finish, vintage frets, 1 5/8" nut and it sounds like a fender. the other necks sound different and dont have a classic fender sound to my ear. it also has a unique, thin profile. it measures .83" at the first fret and .96" at the 12th fret with slightly bigger shoulders making it kind of a thin D shaped neck. the only reason im selling this is because i finally came across an original 70's neck to mate to the body.
in addition, since it was on my main player, i put a bunch of money into it as well. i had a fret level done and a new bone nut made at national resophonic guitars. depending on what shop you go to, thats 150-200 dollars worth of work.
im also including the original sq neck plate. billysbassplace sold a couple of these on ebay for around 50 shipped with another going for 28 shipped, so think of this along with the work already done as a bonus.
condition wise, its very clean. nothing weird on the back of the neck and the finish is still nice and smooth. there's one ding on the treble side of the neck that you cant feel while playing thats pictured. the only thing of note is that mounting holes. its been drilled,dowled,re-drilled,dowled etc numerous times. you might need new holes to match up with your body. obviously, youll never see this once its mounted up to a body. this neck is standard fender dimensions and fits in any fender neck pocket.
heres a vid of it on the job- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=faBNyGsev5A 225 shipped
. imo, these necks are worlds better than buying a mim neck and a much better/affordable alternative to a warmoth or allparts with similar features.
