2 Sets Bartolini Jazz Pickups For Trade (9J1s and CBJD-1s)

Sign in to disble this ad
All pickups now SOLD!

Edit- found some single coils to replace these, so both sets are now FOR SALE! They are both in great condition, though the previous owner of the CBJD set cut the leads a little short (about 3 1/2- 4"). No biggie- you just may have to solder on some slightly longer leads depending on your bass. The 9J1s were bought new and hooked up to an Audere, so the leads have never been cut or soldered.

I'll sell each set for $80 shipped.

Thanks,
Karl

If I don't find a trade first- I guess I'd sell the 9J1s for $100 shipped and the CBJDs for $95 shipped. I'd prefer a trade though, as there aren't currently any used pickups that I have my eye on.

Bump for trades! I may be interested in other single-coil J pickups as well, and maybe a set of Dimarzio Ultra-Jazz even though they are not singles...

Are the 9J1's considered the more hotter modern tone then the Cb's. And what did the 9's sound like with the Audere? Was it more modern DC sound?

I only tried the CBs for a short while- but they seemed to be a little thicker with a bit less presence than the 9J1s. The 9J1s definitely seemed more agressive (or were in this fretless when paired with the Audere), if thats what you are asking. I'm not the best person to try to describe "modern" bass tones though, as I have always strayed toward passive and vintage- this bass was one of my few experiments with "the other side"...

They are both normal Jazz dimensions (a short pickup for the neck and long pickup for the bridge).

Only if your bass utilizes normal 4 string Jazz pickups...seems unlikely to me- I think Fender 5 strings generally have decently wide string spacing.

Those 9J1s sound very tempting. My JZ3 should be arriving tomorrow afternoon so I'll wait and see what that does for my sound. My MIM 70s reissue doesn't have as much versatility as I would like, so hopefully the 3 band EQ will help out a bit. If not, I may take you up on your offer for the 9J1s.

The 9Js are some pretty sweet sounding pickups, especially when paired with an Audere or other pre (thats how I've been using them- goes from deep and round to biting or snappy, all without hum). I just want to go back to a passive setup, so I need a more midrange-centric set of pickups to give me the cut that the Audere was giving me. I never stick with preamps for long!
