| Betcha It Sounds GREAT!! If you start digging around on the internet, this body could be made by Lynn Elsworth of Boogie Bodies (later to be sold to Ken Warmoth). It seems that Van Halen's franken-guitar although pretty well known to be made from Charvel parts, was actually made by Lynn Elsworth...
With this in mind, the typical wood selection does kinda go out through the window...
'81 Charvels were cataloged to be Alder or rock Maple...
This body looks a bit like all of the woods stated by others in the post... For me, the deal breaker is the richly varied grain in the neck pocket- does not look like a typical alder... Noted is the three piece body and a distinct evenness to the narrower center section- Looks quite planned out and symmetrical...
I was actually thinking this may be Cherry but the neck pocket grain is like a Koa or Mahogany with a bit of an open grain texture...
This has been stated to sound great when assembled and the final purchaser is likely going to have a unique, nice sounding bass! GLWTS!! Wish I was in a position to purchase!
