Whats the bass tone like coming through it? Would i need a headphone amp to run with it to get decent tone??

It is a little trebly. I run a compressor (basically a preamp) into it and it works great, esp w/ passive basses. I can run my active basses through it without as well. I just don't use it. Works great with an amp signal as well
