Anybody want a warped StingRay 5 p/g? FREE!

Sign in to disble this ad
So I was in a music store on Friday, picking up replacement speakers for my subs, and saw this lonely, warped pearloid white EBMM StingRay 5 guard hanging on a pin on a shelf. Warped pretty dang bad. Made some comment to the lady working there (owner/s wife) and she gave it to me!

I've got no use for this thing, as I've already got a pearly white guard on my SR5 that's not warped.

Still has all the tags, stickers, and even the price on it. New. never used.

Anybody want it? Maybe it can be flattened out, maybe not. Mostly bowed on the edges, so the middle might be salvaged to made some small parts or something.

FREE to the first to respond...just pay USPS Sshipping.

Thanks and good luck!

Yeah, I picked it up and commented, then VICTORIA just said I could have it.

If nobody acts like they want it, I'll hit the backside of it with my heat gun (650 deg F) a bit, then drag out the clamps and plywood scraps.

But hey, it was free! I just wish I'd asked about the tort one...I don't have tort! Then if it was repairable, I'd have something I might could use myself and the impetus to work on it myself. As it is, meh!

I hate to sound crass...but DUH! If I gotta spend money on something I can't use, I'll just throw it in the trash.

Nope! Still got it -- it goes out tomorrow, BTW.

IIRC, there were three there. Two pearl whites and one tort. I just wish I'd picked up the tort. If I could flatten it, I could use that one. Sold the tort guard off my EBMM SR5 a year or so ago.

I picked up my son an OLP fiver in a pawn shop in East Texas this weekend, and, oddly enough, the red tort guard on it was a little warped. I left it outside in the sun (on a piece of glass) today, and it straightened right out. (Of course, it has been over 100 degrees down here for the last several days.)

And, FWIW, I shop at the same music store and deal with the same guy. Sometimes the El Do branch, but mostly Camden.

here is how I fixed warped guards.

An oven and a cookie sheet. Put guard on sheet, watch it careful keep touching it and feeling it soften. When its soft throw it on your floor and throw a weight on it.

Works everytime I do it, looks great and super flat. Takes a whole ten minutes.

We may have crossed paths. I played the Daffodil Festival over there a couple of years ago.
