For sale/trade is my Single Cut Set Neck with the following specs
Walnut Body (I think)
Bubinga Top w/matching Headstock
Maple/Walnut/Maple Neck
Wenge Fret Board
34" scale
Head Stock drilled for ultra light Tuners
Body drilled for A Style Bridge
Body routed for a single Nordstrand DC5 or equivalent size
The Issues:
Trus rod nut is stripped and the neck is bowed forward with a slight twist. Had a local luthier that would charge me 600.00 to remove fretboard, change truss rod, add 2 carbon fibre rods and new fretboard. That's more than I wanted to spend especially since I had been contemplating using the hardware and electronics to build another bass. I had a lot of money invested in this build and putting another 600.00 into it 2 1/2 years later was just out of the question for me. So, I'm making this available here for sale or trade for 700.00. I will entertain all offers and trades as well as answer any questions I can. |

Interested in a couple DB112's or a Fretles 5er. |

Have you asked a few other luthiers, I'm thinking they could help you out with a better deal than 600 bucks. PM if you still want I can set you up with a luthier who does amazing work. Perhaps he can help you out.

The removal of the fingerboard, and the addition of carbon fiber rods along with a new truss rod will generally do the trick with a bow. With a twist it depends upon where the twist is occuring, in the neck wood or the fingerboard wood. If it is the fingerboard wood, then a new fingerboard would definnitely be needed and that would solve the problem. On the other hand, if you pull the fingerboard off and that appears flat, then the twist is in the neck wood, and one really needs to plane the neck flat as the simple addition of carbon fiber rods and a new truss rod usually won't do the trick...the twist in the neck will just pull back to the way it was (been there, thried that.) Either way, that is why a good repair is going to cost some pennys.
A cool bass that needs a some TLC.
Just my two cents worth...and a free bump

I have been away for a while but I do still have this bass project. I am now in need of a second combo rig for home, therefore this is the trade I am willing to pull the trigger on. Please let me know what you have and of any interest you may have.
Thanks. |
