This one's killin me. I bought a set of .050-.105 Medium Gauge Chromes for a bass and they turned out to be too much for it's cheap, tiny neck, so I took them off after about 30 minutes total playing time. Now, when trying to string up my SX Jazz, I find out that the G string isn't long enough. It's a little over 41.5 inches, every other string is longer and will fit on a Fender Jazz length. So...if you've got something non-Fender that fits, they're:

do they sell singles? maybe just get a new G?

Yes, they do sell singles...only a high C and a low B though

how were they to much? did they not fit the nut? were they causeing the neck to bow?
