Bass body - $40!

This is the body of an Ibanez Blazer P-bass copy (circa 1982). It was originally purple - which I stripped off and then tried to do vintage white. But I messed that up so I stripped that off and settled on Lake Placid Blue. This is the first thing I ever tried to refinish so the results are not perfect. Nonetheless, I think it looks OK. There's a couple spots where the finish was too thin and you can see the "seam" of the wood top. There are some points on the horns where the wood is showing because evidently the paint and clear coat did not stick well - the wood's a bit rougher/grittier there but someone who knows what they are doing could easily touch it up. (You can buy Lake Placid Blue and clear coat touch up pens at http://www.reranch.com).

I had the neck pocket widened to accommodate a 4-bolt Fender style neck. In so doing, however, I rendered the existing pickguard un-fittable. Again, someone who knows what they are doing could re-shape it or maybe cut a whole new one. I had a specific neck in mind for this project (A Moses graphite J neck) but after frustration with finishing the bass and the pickguard issue, I just want to get it out of my house. I've spent more dollars than I care to think about on finishing supplies due to all my screwups but I'm viewing the whole ordeal as "valuable experience" in case I ever try to do this again (which I probably won't.)

You can have this body for $40 shipped (lower 48 U.S.) The pickups are sold, but the bridge and pickguard are each for sale in separate threads.

I took a bunch of pics and couldn't get the color right. With a flash it was too blue. Without a flash it was too gray. The actual color is somewhere in between. Below is a pic that best captures the color, as well as a pic of the hardware and electronics. The rest of the pics can be viewed in the album here: http://picasaweb.google.com/10337963...OKo6jo4onDvQE#

OK, please grab this for $40, which is less than I usually spend on dinner for two at a decent restaurant.

I just want it out of my house, someone please use it for something awesome!

Well, it should fit a Fender, or Warmoth/Allparts/Mighty Mite neck.
There WILL be some extra space at the bottom of the pocket - but the rout is tight as a glove width-wise. If you want, you could put a small block of wood in that extra space, or leave it. It shouldn't be visible..

As for pickguards, I'm not sure what will fit. The original Blazer pickguard I got doesn't even fit anymore. You could try a P-guard but you'd have to trim it up a bit, or get a custom guard made.

These are the reasons it's only $40 :-)
