does the digitech thing do octave and envelope filter at the same time?... is that what the SUB ENV setting is?

yes. on setting 7, it does octave only

Sorry, I'm too dumb to know what that means. There are two outputs, but I'm too stupid to know how to use them so I just copied this from the website and I'm amazed I was able figure out how to do that:
