Guys,
I recently took delivery of a new custom Carvin Bromberg 5-string fretless bass guitar (and boy, am I a happy camper!). Left over from the customization process are two of the stock electronic components which originally came with the instrument. They are in brand new MINT condition, as they've never even been used.
They are as follows, with the following prices: (1) set Carvin Bromberg humbucking pickups - $100/set + shippingSOLD (1) Carvin Bromberg preamp (with piezoelectric component) - $50 + shipping SOLD
FYI, the pickups have the distinctive 14" radiused top surface, and come in the standard sealed housing with two exposed leads each. Carvin sells these from their website at about $75 each, or $150/set. You can get the same thing from me for $50 less - because I want to move them, so they're priced to sell. (I will sell these as a set only - so please don't ask to buy a single pickup.) AFAIK, Carvin doesn't typically sell the Bromberg preamp as a separate component, so $50 is my estimate of the price at which they otherwise might sell - minus a steep discount to insure that this thing moves quickly.
All prices firm. Not interested in trades. Will sell throughout 50 US states - pay via PayPal, will deliver via USPS Priority Mail.

And yes... I've been drooling over these Bromberg basses. Probably the best bass Carvin's ever made. Pre and pickups too. |

I persuaded Carvin to provide me with a pair of Bromberg humbuckers...with four exposed leads, instead of the standard two leads - so that each pickup could be wired in parallel/single-coil/series, with a corresponding DPDT toggle switch for each. The standard two-lead pickups couldn't be wired that way.
Instead of using Carvin's OEM version of the GraphTech Ghost piezoelectric system, I ordered my own Ghost system direct from GraphTech, and had my local guitar tech integrate it with the customized magnetic pickup system. My version is similar to Carvin's stock offering, with the exception that it offers a dedicated volume pot for the Ghost (instead of a blend pot between the piezo & magnetics), a three-way selector switch between the two systems, and a "dark" midrange-selector option control for the Ghost, operable via a push-pull pot on the Ghost volume knob.
My baby has now got so many tonal options, it'll make your head swim! I ordered it with the "hard as nails" epoxied fingerboard option as well. And the instrument now wears a brand-new set of DR Fat Beams in light gauge (.040-.120), with a set-up for very low action - so I barely need to touch it in order to get a sound. This is an instrument that's all about the light touch - subtlety and nuance: It sings!
So no, I didn't abandon the Bromberg components. I just had some special versions made, then customized for my needs.
So there! How's that?

Ok....WOW! There are guys who customize gear...er sort of like polishing a turd. This is not that. For what you want, that all makes sense. Actually, it's freakin cool that Carvin will do all of that. The Bromberg 5's that I've played have all been able to sing with low action. I bet the fretless version is just a killer. Good luck |

Free bump!
