To answer the question... yes it should fit just fine. It's a genuine fender part.
I'm fairly certain the only reason they have a designated name for each P bass guard, is because of the slot that is cut for the truss rod, the different amount of holes for the guard itself, and the thumbrest. 2 holes above or below the strings.
This one has a very small slot, 13 holes plus 2 for the lower rest. And it fits an AV 57-RI, an AV-62-RI, or any other american made fender. Probably a MIM too.
The 57 bass only hass 11 holes, but all the other bass's have 13. You follow me?
The standard guards have a larger slot for the truss rod adjustment.
An American standard guard would probably look odd on any P without the larger slot cut in the bass for the truss rod tool. I think it would look odd for sure. Look again at the link I posted above, and you can see how the slot's are different.
Anyhow, I think it's all the third party guards that cause confusion. Some of those just don't fit right. They may be too tight around the neck, or maybe the whole thing will be a little bit off in places. If anyone can add to my answer..... please do. I hope that longass answer helps
Crawford, how many holes on your bass? What exact model?
