I've wanted one of these but was wondering about the difference between the 2000 model and 2006 model? I notice a new 2006 model is less $$$.

Also does it make since to use an outboard pre-amp with a bass that has a built-in pre-amp? I only have one passive bass left.

I didn't even know there was a 2006 model, I really can't say the difference.

Yes, it make sense to use it, you can set your onboard preamp flat to use only the outboard or even mix both of them.
