Like the title says, I have a vintage '72 Jazz neck for sale. It has a rosewood board with block markers. This vintage neck is straight, has minimal fret wear, and has absolutely no issues. While it does have a couple of minor nicks and dings, the back of the neck is nearly flawless. It is in unbelievable shape for something 37 years old. There is no date stamp on the butt of the neck, but the person I bought it from told me it came off a '72 Jazz, and I have no reason to doubt him.
Truss rod operates freely and is turned just slightly into the butt of the neck. It came without tuners, but I added a set of Hipshot Vintage Oval key tuners to give it a real vintage look. While it does look like the maple may have been oversprayed some time ago, overall it is in excellent shape.
I bought this neck and put it on a 2008 American Std. Precision body, because I was looking for the best of both worlds...I wanted something that sounded like a P but played like a Jazz. The project turned out great, but I just pulled the trigger on an all original '72 Precision, so I have decided to reassemble the American Std. Precision with it's original neck (for sale in another ad) and sell the Jazz neck separately.
I have the bass in the shop having the Jazz neck removed and having the P reassembled with the original neck and I will add some pics of just the Jazz neck when I get it back. In the meantime, I have attached a few pics of the neck attached to the P body.
Price is $800 shipped to the lower 48. I am not adverse to shipping it to other locations, just contact me for a shipping price quote. PM me or shoot me an e-mail to peabody59@hotmail.com if you have any questions. Thanks!

I'm sure I'm not the only one that would want to see those 2 areas. And if you know what the fingerboard radius is, that would be a big plus also. If you don't know the radius, ask the shop to measure it bubba
Nice looking neck, for real.

I'll take it in tomorrow and have them measure because I don't have a radius measuring tool.

And I'm pretty sure it should have a date and a letter stamped on the butt too. And bubba, how about a nice Hi Res of the entire fingerboard, mainly the frets.
Where did you buy it?

Where did you buy it? | As I mentioned earlier, there is nothing stamped on the butt of the neck. While many, if not most, have something stamped there (date, neck type, etc.), I have run across many that are faded beyond recognition or have nothing stamped there at all...like this one.
I've attached a couple pics of the fingerboard, but they're kind of fuzzy.
I got it from a seller off of eBay.
Thanks...

Gorgeous neck. I wish I could grab it for my '73 jazz.....

Gorgeous neck. I wish I could grab it for my '73 jazz..... | Your right about the tuners. As I mentioned in my original post, the neck came without tuners, so I added a set of Hipshot Vintage oval tuners. I have a '71 Jazz that has the original Kluson paddle tuners, and I love that look, so I thought I'd duplicate it on this neck.

Gorgeous neck. I wish I could grab it for my '73 jazz..... | Agreed, the tuners are a lollipop style and are not original, but that should not make a difference on the front of the headstock. It looks to me like the peg holes or the decal were applied too close together. My Jazz logo is about 1/8" away from the tuner bushing.

Funny you should ask...
Technically they aren't painted at all anymore. The La Crosse Lager cans you see now were really done with big slip covers...and they only were able to do this to four of them.
Shhh - don't tell anyone. It's still a lot of beer....

Neck stamps on the heels of the 70's Fenders are somewhat rare and was changed in the early 70's. Looks like the famous J Torres stamp on this one.Good luck with the sale.
