Hello all, I picked this up not too long ago and installed it on a precision body, I liked the tone fair enough but I can't really see myself using it, although I would love to keep this as a backup neck to my stingray I figure there is someone out there that can really use this more. So for ur consideration is a fretless unlined stingray neck from 1987. Do u ever read how the stingrays from the 90s and 80s usually had amazing neck grain, well this is no execption ,this neck is flamed up the butt lol,and is really amazing to see it change with the light. The only time I've seen more figuring was on a new classic ray, personally I like birds eye better but the flame looks so great,I instantly fell in love with it.
Here's the good, The neck is straight with a truss rod that turns so smooth ,its scary. The nut is in great condition and is still very useable, the finish is all intact with no chipping. Id like to point out that this neck has a nice thick piece of rosewood on top of the maple that is very consistent throughout the neck.
Now the bad, some wise guy thought it would be helpful to but tape on the back of the neck to allow easier fingering, however he probably had it on for a while as the wood had faded in sime spots, lucky for us is the fading is parralel to the flames in the neck and isn't too noticeable, but its there.
There is some wear on the fretboard from roundwound strings but there are merely impressions and not deep cuts into the wood. All the notes rang true when it was on my precision body so I can assume its not yet an issue.
The neck heel does have additional holes when it was on other basses, its not really an issue as it can easily be filled but worth mentioning.
Id like to ask for 430 with the tuners and 320 for just the neck shipped con us. Thanks for the interest guys,pm me with offers. |
