FS: '74 P Body LPB refin - LOADED w/ Lindy Fralin pickup

Sign in to disble this ad
I bought this with the understanding that it is a '74. I'm not a total vintage guru, so I welcome any insights based on the photos. It is my understanding that the (Lake Placid?) blue is not the original finish. (Not a top-caliber refin job, but it holds up okay.) It appears to have aged nicely with honest player's neglect.

I really love the look of the nice, deep blue with a tort pickguard and maple neck. (The neck is NOT for sale, in case you were wondering...) I like the unplugged sound, as well. The (standard wind IIRC) Fralin pickup works great.

The bridge may or may not be original to the '78 body this whole project originated with. The tort pickguard was new, installed by me & given a few years of honest wear. Also included are some newer chrome covers with very light wear (I bought them new but usually left them off). The electronics (CTS/Switchcraft) were installed new by me.

The neck plate and screws is NOT included.

This is not the heaviest body I've encountered but it is not particularly light. (Assembled with my '78 neck with a D-tuner, the whole thing weighs 10 lbs 2 oz.)

I've enjoyed this body for a few years. A long chain of events lead to me building up another P body and I sort of need to recoup the costs from that.

I'm asking $450, shipped CONUS. The pickup has sold, so how about $350 for everything (minus pickup) or $300 for just the body (w/ no parts at all).

Trades unlikely. (Maybe toward a recent, fast 21.5" iMac or for a suitable not-vintage body that could accommodate a Dark Star.)

Look HERE for more photos.

Thanks for looking!

Oh you like??

The neck is off:

and the covers are on:

The knobs were new, BTW. Top-quality "tele" knobs.

I owned this previously, i got the body from a very repetable ebay source and before i pulled the trigger i compared its routes to that of a 70s fender , 74 seemed to fit , i then asked forum members and most agreed it was probably a 74 . The paint is for sure a refin. There are two sets of thumbrest holes on the bass and treble side , the 74 above thumbrest looked like the original one.

You did this body alot more justice then i did and for those looking for conformation on age of the body here are routes to compare it by , note these photos are 2 years old so there maybe more wear to it.

Thanks very kindly for the verification!

I personally think it looks sweet with tort, but I know it makes some people barf.

If a buyer really feels that strongly, I do have an almost unused B/W/B pickguard I could swap on.

If someone wants just the body I can do that for $350, shipped.

I'd rather not get into sales of the various parts until I'm sure the main item is going.

The pickup has sold. No more pickup.

How about $350 for the rest (body, bridge, pick guard, ashtrays, pots & jack, strap buttons) or $300 for just the wood? (Less $$$ than that and I'll probably just hang on to it & build it back up.)
