The metal plate on the body it comes from has a serial number of 635xxx.
According to
http://www.strat-central.com/external/datingfender.htm, the bass as a whole was made somewhere between mid-'74 to mid-'76.
On the heel there are two stamps, and unfortunately they overlap. Some of it is illegible.
The bigger stamp appears to be 0110??45?. Where there are question marks it is illegible or easy to make out. The smaller number *appears* to be 37208. Not sure why there are two stamps.

01 = Precision (check)
10 = Maple fretless neck (check)
week = missing
4 = 1974 (now, this is a bit rubbed but it appears to be a 4)
5 = Made on a Friday
Everything matches and it may even be OLDER than 1976 (as I thought it was).
Enough proof for you guys?
I've done enough buying AND selling of basses and other gear (some of it not cheap) over the past 20 years. I've been around the block. I've been screwed by sellers. Why would I lie about any of this? I want this to go to a good home. If I didn't care, I'd just throw it up on the 'bay. I've priced it fairly to go to someone who will really appreciate it. The maple necks I've seen on the 'bay definitely go for more.
